Waka Innovations was established by three New Zealand (Kiwi) marine industry mainstays, united by a shared vision to fulfill their longstanding dream of introducing innovative, Kiwidesigned vessels to the global stage. Together they have created Waka, the design vehicle to make it possible.
Each waka design is built to be timeless, destined to become a classic in its own right. Over time, Waka Innovations plans to launch both recreational and commercial vessels, including powerboats and sailboats. All designed to satisfy a desire for sea-kindliness, comfort, and efficiency. While maintaining a standard that ensures each vessel is as functional as it is visually appealing.

Antony Gray, fondly known as Ant, has contributed to the achievements of many New Zealand marine companies and major nautical events He has been the lead designer for many brand identity campaigns and designs identity initiatives for super yachts, offshore powerboat races, America’s Cup events, Round the World Yacht races, and the Olympic Games. With deep industry insight, outstanding photography skills, and a passion for boats, Ant ensures every Waka vessel is showcased to its best advantage.
Brett Bakewell-White
Director / Marine Design Principal
Brett Bakewell-White is recognized as one of the leading naval architects both in New Zealand and internationally. An accomplished yachtsman and designer, Brett has achieved significant success across a variety of marine sectors, from recreational sail and powerboats to commercial vessels. He leads Waka’s design efforts and oversees collaboration with additional designers as the team grows.
Geoff Fraser
Managing Director
Geoff Fraser, a world champion yachtsman serves as Managing Director of one of the world’s top international ship and yacht brokerages in addition to his role as the Managing Director of an international maritime consulting company. Geoff is a past President of the New Zealand Marine Industry Association and his leadership and marketing expertise will ensure that Waka Innovations is sailing on a true course to success.
